If you’re dreaming of a stylish update to your plaster home recladding could be the answer. You’ll update your home to one you can feel proud to call your own, plus you’ll ensure that your property reaches maximum value when you sell. Transforming your plaster home into a modern and comfortable place to live is an investment in your home and your family well into the future.
While a reclad is no small undertaking, the benefits are outstanding. Here’s a example of a beautifully modernised and updated home from one of our many happy clients.
The owners had purchased their Remuera home during the 1990s and had completed substantial renovations including a plaster clad exterior. Thirty years on, it was time to sell. Whilst only minor external issues needed fixing – underneath decks and the external fireplace, the owners knew that the biggest challenge when listing their property was the stigma around plaster clad homes turning potential buyers away.
Recladding provided the perfect opportunity to completely refresh and modernise the exterior appearance of the property for these Remuera homeowners. The couple opted for a sophisticated dark stained Abodo (eco timber) cladding, with copper soakers and downpipes providing a striking contrast and beautiful finished result. New double glazed joinery was also installed.
To sharpen the outdoor living area, the exterior decks were removed and replaced with new wrap-around decks to increase indoor and outdoor flow. The owners also chose to install a rain sensor Louvretec over the decks, ensuring the area could be enjoyed – rain or shine.
“Abodo cladding is relatively new and changed the look of our property completely. Plus, the copper touches look really fantastic against the dark black.” – Gregor, owner
While the recladding process can be quite daunting, the owners were pleased by the process and way that issues were resolved. What’s more, the couple were more than thrilled with the result and return on their investment.
“The actual cost of the reclad was well worth it from a financial perspective as the house sold for a very good price and added enormous value to the house.” – Gregor, owner
Duration of project: 6 months
Weatherboards used: Abodo cladding. Abodo is a similar looking product to cedar but is manufactured in NZ and made from kiln dried pine making it a sustainable choice.
